Kelly Prunty has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Saint Louis University, and a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University. She worked as an Account Executive at McKinney, an advertising agency based in Durham, North Carolina, before moving back to St. Louis to start a family in 2005.
While raising her young children, Kelly started her own graphic design business, The Design Boutique, as well as a creative home décor business called Creativity is Contagious.
In 2015, Kelly co-founded the St. Louis-based nonprofit, Addiction is Real (AIR). She created AIR to educate parents/caregivers in drug prevention, in hopes of sparing other families the same heartache that her own family had been enduring due to the devastating disease of addiction. Kelly served as the Executive Director of Addiction is Real for six years (2017-2022) and continued to serve on the Board of Directors through 2023. Addiction is Real was awarded the DEA’s Community Drug Prevention Award in 2021 and has received multiple accolades, including two Telly Awards, for its innovative drug prevention tools for caregivers.
In 2021, Kelly’s youngest sister who struggled with addiction for over a decade, died from a fentanyl overdose, leaving behind her five-year-old daughter. Kelly, and her husband, Kevin, have since adopted their niece. Kelly’s most prized accomplishment is being a mother to her five incredible children.
Kelly lives in St. Louis, Missouri with her husband, Kevin, and five kids. She loves to read, travel, play the guitar, and dabble in anything creative.
