Laurel Dawson has over 20 years of experience in the US Congress and Senate, primarily in the offices of Governor Mike DeWine. Her current role is as Governor DeWine’s Chief of Staff and prior to this position, she served as Counselor to the Governor. She also worked as Cabinet Director under the Administration of Governor George Voinovich. Laurel has extensive experience as a US Federal lobbyist, representing both for-profit and nonprofit entities, and served as campaign manager in a successful Ohio US Senate race. In addition to her political career, Laurel is a skilled executive leadership coach and trainer working with business leaders and their teams. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Studies from Miami University and a Master’s degree in Organizational Development from American University in Washington, DC. Laurel is actively involved in various organizations, including serving on the Board of Trustees at Miami University, Chairman of the Board at the Columbus Montessori Education Center, and Board Member of an inner city daycare center. Personally, her and her husband, Mike Dawson, have two sons (21 and 24 years of age), and they have been residents of Bexley, Ohio for the past 23 years. In her free time, Laurel enjoys swimming, spending time with friends, traveling, and skiing until her knees give out!
